How Over 60 Dam Was Born: My Story, My Healing, Our Community by Roger Campbell Sr.

In 2021, something inside me shifted. I was 62 years old, wrestling with personal challenges, emotional weight, and the question so many of us eventually ask: What is next for me?

I did not know it then, but I was starting something that would change my life—and perhaps help change a few others as well.

That is how Over 60 Dam came to be.

At the time, it was not a brand. It was not a website or a movement. It was simply a podcast—ten-minute stories I recorded, primarily for myself. They were therapy. A way to sort through the pain, joy, confusion, and wisdom that comes with aging in a world that does not always treat us with the respect we have earned.

I created twenty-one episodes, each one short enough for someone to listen to while walking the dog, having coffee, or just catching their breath between the noise of life. They were not perfect, but they were real. And over time, something amazing happened. People started to listen. They started to write back. They told me that my words helped them feel seen. That meant everything.

But the podcast was just the beginning.

I kept hearing stories from people I knew, as well as others from strangers. Stories about doctors who ignored their concerns because of their age. About contractors trying to take advantage. About scam emails, fake phone calls, and confusion over tech, insurance, and Medicare. I was no longer just telling my story. I was hearing our story.

That's when I knew I had to build more than just a podcast.

Over 60 Dam became a platform. A place where we not only speak up, but also stand up. For each other. For the truth. For wisdom. For dignity. For legacy.

This blog is one more piece of that. And this website? It is a growing hub for inspiration, tools, and resources, as well as connections with links to trusted organizations like AARP and others working hard for people like us.

If you are over 60 and still standing strong—even if life has knocked you down a few times, this space is for you.

Welcome to Over 60 Dam.
This is not just my story. It is ours.
